Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab informed that 243 illegal hydrants had been demolished across the city, with 212 FIRs registered and 103 individuals arrested in connection with the illegal tanker mafia. He added that approximately 3,200 water tankers had been registered through QR codes, a move that not only improved transparency in water distribution but also generated an additional Rs60 million in revenue for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation. Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed that the campaign against the tanker mafia should continue relentlessly until the menace is fully eradicated. In a separate meeting reviewing Sindh’s food reserves, the chief minister was briefed that the province currently holds sufficient stock to meet demand until early 2026, with the next crop expected in March. Shah instructed the Food Department to prepare a release policy, maintain strategic reserves, and strictly monitor flour prices to ensure stability and affordability for citizens.
Chairing a high-level security meeting, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah declared that eliminating dacoits from the Katcha region was a non-negotiable priority. He instructed police to intensify intelligence-based operations, particularly in flood-affected riverine belts where many criminal elements were likely displaced. Between January 2024 and September 2025, law enforcement agencies carried out 760 targeted operations and 352 search operations, resulting in the killing of 159 dacoits, the arrest of 823 suspects, and the recovery of 962 weapons. Among those neutralized were eight most-wanted criminals. Shah stressed that alongside policing, long-term peace in the Katcha areas required infrastructure development. He directed the chief secretary to prepare a comprehensive plan for roads, schools, hospitals, dispensaries, and transport facilities. Highlighting the strategic importance of the Ghotki-Kandhkot bridge, the chief minister said it would enhance regional connectivity and improve law and order, reaffirming that peace and security remain the Sindh government’s top priority.
