UAE to Develop New Tourism Village in Morocco
The UAE is building a new tourism village in Morocco. It will be located in La Güera, Morocco’s southernmost coastal town. This area sits next to the Sahara Desert and Mauritania. Currently, the region is largely uninhabited. However, it will soon transform into a mixed-use leisure destination.
What the Village Will Include
A marina will be the central feature of the masterplan. The village will offer diverse accommodation options. Visitors can choose from hotels, chalets, and luxury desert tents. Recreational facilities will include swimming pools and water parks. Wellness centres and sports fields will also be available. A variety of dining venues will complement these amenities. Additionally, event and conference spaces will support future business tourism.
Strong Investment Ties
The UAE remains one of Morocco’s largest foreign investors. Total investments surpassed US$180 million by mid-2025. Recent joint ventures include a US$14 billion water and energy programme. This new tourism project will further strengthen Morocco’s position as a leading global destination.
Record Tourism Growth
Morocco saw record arrivals in 2025. The country welcomed 19.8 million visitors, a 14% increase from the previous year. A targeted summer campaign boosted inbound tourism from GCC markets. The Moroccan National Tourism Office partnered with travel platform Wego for this effort.
Future Growth Catalysts
Tourist activity is expected to accelerate further. Morocco will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. Host cities include Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakesh, Tangier, Fez, and Agadir. This will introduce football fans to destinations across the country.
Regional air connectivity is also expanding. Carriers like Saudi Arabia’s Flynas will introduce direct flights to Rabat. This makes travel to Morocco easier than ever before.
