UAE Visa Restrictions Impact Pakistani Travelers

The UAE has significantly restricted visas for Pakistani travelers seeking to visit the country. Officials now confirm that only diplomatic and blue passport holders currently receive visas. This sudden development impacts tourism, business trips, and family visits dramatically. The restrictions apparently stem from serious concerns about criminal activities involving some visitors. However, UAE embassy officials continue to deny that any formal visa ban exists currently.

Official Statements and Security Concerns

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry revealed these significant restrictions during a recent Senate committee meeting. Ministry officials emphasized that Saudi Arabia and UAE haven’t imposed full passport bans yet, which is crucial. They specifically warned that complete bans would be much harder to reverse later, making the current situation particularly delicate.
Senator Samina Mumtaz Zehri officially confirmed the restrictions after the committee meeting concluded. She directly cited security concerns about some visitors engaging in criminal activities as the primary reason. Very few visas have been issued recently to Pakistani citizens despite these ongoing challenges and discussions.

Diplomatic Efforts and Processing Reforms

UAE Ambassador Salem Al Zaabi recently discussed potential visa facilitation reforms with Pakistani officials. The proposed changes include completely online processing systems and e-visas without physical passport stamping. The newly established UAE Visa Centre in Pakistan currently processes nearly 500 applications daily despite restrictions.
Both nations have officially reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership during recent meetings. They continue working actively on improving trade relationships, investment opportunities, and people-to-people ties. Previous visa issues were successfully resolved through similar diplomatic interventions last year.
