UN Tourism Highlights Investment Opportunities in Lithuania’s Tourism Sector
UN Tourism has launched a new strategic investment guide for Lithuania. The “Tourism Doing Business: Investing in Lithuania” report was presented in Madrid. It was formally handed to Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation, Guoda Burokienė. Therefore, this marks a significant step in promoting the country as a prime destination for sustainable tourism investment.
Showcasing a Foundation for Growth
The publication highlights Lithuania’s strong institutional and digital foundations. The country offers a stable policy environment attractive for long-term investors. Furthermore, it showcases a diverse tourism portfolio spanning culture, wellness, and nature. As a result, Lithuania presents a compelling case for high-value, sustainable development.
The report identifies concrete investment niches with high potential. These key areas include wellness tourism and sustainable accommodation. Moreover, it features rural tourism and the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Exhibitions) sector. Consequently, investors have clear pathways for engagement.
A Call to Action for Global Investors
The guide is a direct call to action for the global investment community. It features 14 specific public and private projects. Furthermore, the combined potential value of these opportunities reaches up to EUR 692.2 million. As a result, Lithuania is actively opening its doors to nearly €700 million in responsible investment.
UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili commended Lithuania’s progress. He stated tourism is a powerful driver of inclusive and sustainable growth for the country. In addition, Vice-Minister Burokienė invited partners to help build a resilient and inspiring tourism future.
This partnership will continue with an upcoming “Discover Lithuania” Startup Challenge. The initiative seeks tech-driven solutions to enhance visitor experiences. Ultimately, Lithuania is positioning itself as a forward-looking and competitive player in European tourism.
