Zelensky Denies Putin Drone Claim as Peace Talks Face Strain

The Putin drone claim has triggered fresh tension between Ukraine and Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky firmly rejected Moscow’s accusations. He said Russia is spreading false stories to block peace talks.
Russian officials alleged Ukraine launched a large drone attack overnight. According to Moscow, 91 long-range drones targeted a residence linked to President Vladimir Putin. However, Ukraine denies any involvement.
Zelensky called the accusation a familiar tactic. He said such claims help the Kremlin justify further attacks. Therefore, he warned the world to treat the allegation with caution.

Russia Raises Claims, Ukraine Pushes Back

Russia’s foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said the drones hit a state residence in the Novgorod region. The area sits in northwestern Russia. In addition, Moscow said it would reconsider its stance on negotiations.
Russian officials did not confirm where Putin was during the alleged incident. This uncertainty has raised further questions. As a result, analysts say the timing looks politically motivated.
Ukraine’s leadership insists it focuses on defense, not symbolic attacks. Zelensky stressed that Ukraine seeks real dialogue. However, he said Moscow continues to distort facts.

Peace Talks Under Growing Pressure

The Putin drone claim comes during fragile diplomatic efforts. Talks aimed at ending the conflict already face major hurdles. Therefore, any new accusation risks deepening mistrust.
Zelensky accused Russia of creating excuses to continue strikes. For example, he pointed to recent attacks on Ukrainian cities. He said peace requires honesty from both sides.
International observers have urged restraint. In addition, they called for independent verification of such claims. Many fear that misinformation could delay progress.
Despite rising tension, Ukraine says it remains open to dialogue. However, Zelensky warned that peace talks cannot succeed under false accusations. The coming days may prove critical.
