Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are set to welcome travelers on three newly launched tourist train routes this fall, designed to enhance regional tourism and highlight the countries’ shared cultural heritage. Announced on Aug. 28 by Kazakh Tourism, the initiative aims to strengthen cross-border ties while offering unique rail journeys through historic cities.
All three trips, which run between five and seven days, will depart from Almaty. Tour packages are already on sale and include guided excursions, modern onboard accommodations, partial meal plans, and transport services, providing a convenient and immersive travel experience.
The first route, managed by Khan-Turan Travel, will begin operating on September 21. It will pass through Almaty, Turkistan, Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara, with extra boarding options in Taraz and Shymkent.
The second journey, offered by Turan Kazakhstan Travel, is scheduled to depart on Sept. 26. This itinerary will connect Almaty with Samarkand, Bukhara, Tashkent, and Turkistan, offering passengers a rich blend of cultural and architectural exploration.
The third route, to be operated by Skyway, will commence on September 30. Starting in Almaty, the train will pass through Turkistan, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Tashkent before making its return to Almaty.
Organizers highlight that these programs not only provide travelers with a comfortable way to explore the region’s most iconic landmarks but also support broader tourism development strategies. By showcasing historic Silk Road cities and fostering cultural exchange, the routes are expected to attract both domestic and international visitors eager to experience Central Asia’s rich traditions and hospitality.
