Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has announced 4,500 scholarships for Afghan students, providing opportunities to pursue higher education in fields including Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, and Management.
The initiative is part of Pakistan’s long-standing commitment to support human resource development in Afghanistan and to strengthen educational and cultural ties between the two countries. According to officials, the scholarships will cover tuition fees, accommodation, and living allowances, ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder Afghan students from accessing quality education in Pakistani institutions.
For decades, Pakistan has served as a key educational destination for Afghans, with thousands of students graduating from its universities and professional colleges. Many of these graduates have gone on to play important roles in Afghanistan’s healthcare, education, engineering, and governance sectors, contributing significantly to the country’s development and reconstruction efforts.
By offering new opportunities to young Afghans, Pakistan hopes to nurture a skilled generation capable of addressing Afghanistan’s pressing socio-economic challenges. Education experts believe the initiative will also foster goodwill and strengthen bilateral relations, while creating long-term avenues for regional cooperation in science, technology, and professional development.
Officials emphasized that education remains one of the strongest bridges between the two nations, and Pakistan is committed to continuing its role in empowering Afghan youth through academic opportunities.
