ESA Student Support Shines at IAC 2025 Through Global ISEB Programme
ESA student support played a key role at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 in Sydney. ESA sponsored ten university students who joined peers from around the world. As a result, they gained exposure to the global space sector and built meaningful professional connections.
The ISEB Student Programme created a friendly and collaborative environment. It offered research presentations, group challenges and open dialogue with space leaders. These activities helped students develop confidence and expand their international networks.
A Week of Learning and Exploration
The week began with an Orientation Day. Students met one another through workshops and icebreakers. In addition, they heard from high-level representatives across global space agencies. Many shared that the experience improved their communication skills and cultural awareness.
Students also joined the ISEB Team Challenge. This mission focused on space sustainability and encouraged teamwork. Mixed teams worked creatively and learned from one another. Several participants said the challenge helped them form long-lasting connections.
Mid-week brought a major highlight. Students took part in an interactive session with leaders from ESA, CSA, JAXA and CNES. They asked questions about global cooperation and the future of space exploration. The open conversation inspired many to dream bigger about their own careers.
The group later visited the ESA booth for discussions with ESA’s Director of Strategy and astronaut Andreas Mogensen. Their insights offered practical guidance and sparked excitement about future missions.
Supporting Educators and Future Talent
ESA also helped lead a professional workshop for teachers. Educators explored hands-on STEM activities, including an exoplanet detection model using micro:bits. The session gave teachers simple tools they can now use to inspire their students.
Through these efforts, ESA strengthened its role in developing the next generation of space professionals and educators.
