US and Pakistan Unveil New Academic Facility as Fulbright Programme Turns 75

US and Pakistan marked an important milestone with the launch of a new academic facility in Islamabad. The event also celebrated 75 years of the Fulbright Programme, which has supported exchange and learning between the two nations. The ceremony carried a warm and hopeful atmosphere.
United States Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker joined Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar to inaugurate the new USEFP building. They described the site as a symbol of shared progress. In addition, Baker said the facility reflects values that encourage innovation and global cooperation. Her remarks also noted the United States’ upcoming 250th anniversary.
The five-storey, 9,755-square-metre structure showcases years of teamwork. It hosts EducationUSA services, a Lincoln Corner, training spaces, and open areas for community events. As a result, students, educators, and visitors can now access reliable guidance and tools for international learning.

Strengthening Opportunities and Cultural Exchange

Senior US officials attended the ribbon-cutting, which highlighted national support for the programme. For example, representatives from Educational and Cultural Affairs and South and Central Asian Affairs joined the ceremony. Their presence reinforced the long-term importance of expanding access to education.
Baker shared that the new academic facility deepens bilateral ties. She explained that the building invites people to explore American culture and discuss global challenges. Therefore, the space encourages dialogue and promotes inclusive learning.
USEFP, founded in 1950, remains one of 49 Fulbright Commissions worldwide. Over the decades, it has supported thousands of Pakistanis and Americans. In addition, it continues to build bridges between communities. The new academic facility will help the organisation expand its reach and create more opportunities for growth.
