Punjab Exam Leadership Appointments Begin After Years of Delay

The Punjab government has started a long-awaited hiring process. This move focuses on Punjab exam leadership across nine education boards. The appointments come after delays lasting up to three years.
During this time, senior posts remained vacant across the system.
As a result, the boards struggled to function smoothly. Several institutions came close to operational failure. Junior officers managed affairs under temporary arrangements. However, these ad-hoc setups lacked professional oversight. The situation raised serious concerns about governance. Therefore, education stakeholders demanded urgent action.

Application Timeline and Eligibility Details

The process gained momentum after a media report highlighted the issue. Soon after, authorities issued official advertisements for permanent roles. The vacancies cover all nine boards. These include Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad. Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan are also included. Each board will receive permanent leadership appointments. Interested officers must apply online by December 31. Officials expect to complete the process by February 28.For chairman roles, candidates need an MA or MSc degree.
They must also hold BS-19 or BS-20 status. Applicants for secretary and assessment head positions need similar degrees. However, these roles require BS-18 status. All appointments will last for three years. This step aims to restore stability and accountability. Moreover, permanent leadership should improve academic administration. It may also rebuild public trust in board operations. Overall, the move signals a shift toward stronger governance. Punjab exam leadership reforms could strengthen the education system.
