Phasmophobia’s Winter Update Summons Three New Ghosts
Kinetic Games has launched the Winter’s Jest update for Phasmophobia, introducing three brand-new ghost types: the Obambo, Gallu, and Dayan. The update also adds a seasonal Krampus ghost model, temporary holiday aesthetics on rotating maps, and kicks off community goals, enriching the game before its major Horror 2.0 overhaul planned for 2026.
New Ghosts and Their Mechanics
Each new ghost is rooted in real-world folklore and introduces unique gameplay mechanics. The Obambo, based on Central African mythology, flickers between states of calm and aggression, altering its hunting speed. The Gallu, an ancient Mesopotamian demon, becomes enraged by the use of protective equipment, weakening its effects.
The Dayan, a vengeful spirit from Indian and Pakistani folklore, gains strength when players move too close but weakens if they stand still. Players must learn these new behaviors and evidence sets to successfully identify them, adding fresh layers of strategy and fear to investigations.
Update Context and Future Content
This content drop serves as a substantial gift to the community, which has consistently requested new ghosts alongside the anticipated Horror 2.0 update. It follows other recent additions like the Nell’s Diner map, demonstrating Kinetic Games’ ongoing support.
With the Switch 2 release and the foundational Horror 2.0 update slated for 2026, Phasmophobia continues to solidify its position as a premier ghost-hunting experience. The Winter’s Jest update provides immediate new challenges and seasonal cheer for its dedicated player base.
