The Fallout 4 December Patch Fixes Key Issues

Bethesda releases Fallout 4’s December patch, delivering a number of crucial bug fixes for Creations, crashes, and ultrawide monitor support on PC. However, the update notably lacks the long-promised expansion for console mod storage, confirming its delay into early 2026. This mix of necessary fixes and a missing headline feature leaves parts of the community frustrated.

Critical Fixes for Mods and Stability

The patch addresses significant issues with the Creations mod system. It finally resolves a bug that prevented purchased Creations Bundles from downloading properly on Steam. This bug had locked players out of content they owned. The update also improves how the game handles save files with missing Creations. Now the game prompts users to download required content before loading a save.
Furthermore, the patch stabilizes the Creation menu itself. It fixes UI bugs and restores the “best results” search filter. A critical fix also allows players to properly remove deleted Creations from their load order. This prevents a situation that could previously make the menu unusable. These changes improve quality of life for modders on all platforms.

Platform Disparity and Missed Promises

On PC, the patch brings welcome fixes for ultrawide monitor support. It properly aligns the Workshop and other menus after a year of incremental updates. It also squashes a persistent freeze that occurred when exiting the game. However, a major DLC recognition bug persists exclusively for PlayStation users. This still locks them out of purchased content months after the Anniversary Update introduced the problem.
The confirmed delay of the console mod storage expansion is the patch’s most discussed omission. Bethesda now states this highly requested feature will arrive in early 2026. Its arrival will require a wipe of current load orders. This repeated postponement, following the disruptive Anniversary Update, fuels player skepticism about development priorities. The community now questions when key issues will finally receive full resolution.
