For generations, Desi Ghee has been celebrated in South Asian homes. Many people view it as a source of “good fats” and vitality. However, modern medical experts are now urging a major reality check.
Health expert Dr. Mansoor Ahmed issued a stern warning recently. He spoke on ARY Digital’s Good Morning Pakistan. The doctor targeted common misconceptions about animal fats. He also clarified the role of traditional home remedies.

Debunking the ‘Good Fat’ Label for Desi Ghee

Dr. Mansoor Ahmed explicitly rejected a popular idea. He stated Desi Ghee is not a healthy fat source. He clarified there is no scientific evidence for this claim. Solidified fats like ghee are not beneficial for the heart.
“Desi ghee and other dairy-based fats are primary contributors to LDL,” Dr. Ahmed explained. LDL is known as ‘bad cholesterol.’ High LDL levels cause arterial inflammation. This buildup narrows blood vessels significantly. Consequently, it increases risks for hypertension and heart attacks.

A Simple Rule for Choosing Cooking Oils

The doctor shared a simple guideline for viewers. It helps people make better dietary choices. He advised using the “Liquid vs. Solid” rule. If a fat solidifies at room temperature, you should stay away from it.
Oils that remain liquid are far superior for heart health. They are better than fats that freeze or thicken in cold weather. Therefore, transitioning to vegetable-based liquid oils is critical. This change can be life-saving for those at risk of heart disease.

The Reality of Garlic as a Home Remedy

The expert also addressed another common belief. Many think garlic can replace medicine for high cholesterol. Dr. Ahmed provided a crucial clarification. Garlic does contain a natural statin component. This is the primary drug ingredient for lowering cholesterol.
However, the concentration in garlic is negligible. It cannot effectively replace prescribed modern medication. Relying solely on garlic for treatment is not medically sound. People must consult doctors for proper cholesterol management.
