Former Googlers Build Sparkli, an AI Learning App for Kids

Former Google employees are building a new AI learning app for kids. The app, called Sparkli, aims to make education more engaging and interactive. As a result, it moves beyond plain text and voice responses. Sparkli was founded by Lax Poojary, Lucie Marchand, and Myn Kang. Two founders are parents who struggled to answer their children’s questions. However, text-heavy AI tools failed to hold kids’ attention. Instead, Sparkli creates immersive learning experiences. For example, kids can explore how Mars feels instead of just seeing images.
Therefore, learning becomes active rather than passive.
The app offers guided topics and custom questions. In addition, it highlights one new topic every day.
Kids can listen, read, watch videos, and play games.
Sparkli also removes pressure from learning. As a result, children explore without fear of wrong answers. This approach supports curiosity and confidence.

Safety, Schools, and the Future of Sparkli

Sparkli focuses strongly on child safety. The app blocks harmful topics like sexual content.
However, it responds gently to emotional questions. For example, questions about self-harm trigger emotional learning prompts. The app also encourages kids to speak with trusted adults. Therefore, Sparkli prioritizes wellbeing alongside education. The startup tested Sparkli in over 20 schools.
Currently, it targets children aged five to twelve. In addition, teachers can assign lessons and track progress. Sparkli uses rewards, streaks, and quest cards. As a result, kids feel motivated to return daily.
The design draws inspiration from popular learning apps.
The company raised $5 million in pre-seed funding. Swiss venture firm Founderful led the round. Accordingly, Sparkli plans to expand school partnerships globally. Parents will gain consumer access by mid-2026.
Ultimately, Sparkli hopes to make learning exciting again.
