Meta Vibes App Tests Standalone AI Video Platform

Meta is testing a new standalone version of its Meta Vibes app. The company confirmed the move this week. Vibes lets people create and share short AI-generated videos.
Meta launched Vibes last September inside the Meta AI app. However, the company now wants to give it a dedicated space. As a result, Vibes could compete more directly with OpenAI’s Sora. The app feels similar to TikTok or Instagram Reels. The key difference is simple. Every video on Vibes is created using AI. Meta says early interest encouraged this test. Therefore, the company believes a focused app can boost creativity and sharing.

How the Meta Vibes App Works

The Meta Vibes app allows users to create videos from scratch. People can also remix videos they see in their feed. In addition, the app supports music, visual edits, and style changes. After editing, users can share videos directly on Vibes. They can also send them to friends or cross-post to Instagram and Facebook. This setup mirrors how many people already use Reels.
Meta reports strong collaboration trends. For example, many users message Vibes videos privately. As a result, sharing feels more personal and social.
Although Meta has not shared usage numbers, engagement continues to rise. The company sees this as proof of growing demand. Therefore, it believes Vibes can stand on its own.
Meta also plans to test subscriptions.
While Vibes remains free, premium tools may unlock extra video creation options. These tests could begin in the coming months. Overall, Meta sees Vibes as more than an experiment. The company wants AI video creation to feel fun and accessible. If successful, Vibes could become Meta’s next major creative platform.
