Canva dual startup acquisition strengthens its creative platform. The company announced two new deals on Monday. Canva acquired Cavalry and MangoAI. Each startup adds new capabilities to Canva’s growing ecosystem. Cavalry focuses on 2D motion animation. It serves advertising, gaming, marketing, and generative art industries. As a result, Canva now moves deeper into motion design.
The company plans to integrate Cavalry with Affinity. Canva bought Affinity in 2024 and later made it free. Since then, users downloaded it over five million times. Affinity already supports photo, vector, and layout editing. However, it lacked motion tools. Now, Canva closes that gap and offers a fuller creative suite.
Stronger Push Into Marketing AI
Meanwhile, MangoAI brings advanced advertising technology. The startup builds reinforcement learning systems to improve video ad performance. Therefore, brands can create smarter campaigns. MangoAI’s founders include former Netflix leaders. Nirmal Govind will join Canva as Chief Algorithms Officer. Vinith Misra will focus on improving marketing tools.

In addition, the company launched Canva Grow for content creation and performance tracking.
Cliff Obrecht recently shared that Canva Grow performs well. Many brands already spend heavily on the tool. As a result, Canva continues scaling its marketing ecosystem. The company closed 2025 with $4 billion in annualized revenue. It now serves over 265 million users worldwide. Overall, Canva dual startup acquisition shows clear ambition.
