Punjab Energy Crisis: Government Acts Fast

Punjab Energy Crisis: Government Acts Fast

The Punjab government is acting quickly to manage the energy crisis. The Provincial Energy Department shared important recommendations to save electricity. It plans fair fuel distribution using digital coupons and rationing. Schools may close to reduce energy demand and support families during shortages.

Fuel and Market Measures

Officials will follow the federal model for fuel rationing. They aim to provide petrol and diesel fairly across the province. The government will limit market hours and ban non-essential events. Streetlights will run in alternate mode after 10:00 pm. LED billboards and decorative lights will turn off to conserve energy.
Private institutions must follow strict work-from-home rules. These steps will lower overall energy consumption. They also ensure essential services continue without major interruptions.

Education and Transport Plans

The government may keep schools closed until April 15. However, it plans to introduce hybrid learning. Students can attend online classes while schools gradually reopen. This approach keeps learning continuous and safe.
Officials will also increase Orange Line train and metro bus services. More public transport will reduce fuel demand and make commuting easier. These combined efforts help manage the energy crisis while keeping daily life functional.
By implementing these strategies, Punjab expects to stabilize its energy situation. Citizens must follow guidelines and cooperate. Together, these measures can ensure fair access to resources and reduce electricity shortages.
