Sindh Makes Teaching License Test Mandatory for Teacher Hiring
The Sindh teaching license policy has taken a major step forward. Authorities now require all teachers to pass a licensing exam before hiring. As a result, the province aims to improve education quality and professional standards.
The decision came during a board meeting chaired by Syed Sardar Ali Shah. He stressed the need for better training and accountability. Therefore, officials are introducing reforms to strengthen the system.
New Reforms and Policy Updates
The board reviewed changes to the Teaching License Policy 2023. These updates include new subject specializations at the secondary level. In addition, authorities will launch a bridging course for one-year BEd graduates.
Officials also plan to include Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in the licensing framework. This step will help improve early learning standards. As a result, teachers will gain better skills for younger students.
A special committee will improve accreditation for ECCE diploma institutions. The panel will review curriculum quality and training facilities. Therefore, teacher preparation will become more structured and effective.
Testing Process and Future Plans
Authorities have already conducted the first elementary-level teaching test. Officials described the process as successful. The next phase, for Grades 6 to 12, will take place in September.
Moreover, the government plans to hire a third-party testing agency. This step will ensure transparency and fairness in the process. Candidates must score at least 50 percent marks to qualify.
In addition, officials will introduce a quota to promote licensed teachers. This move will encourage more candidates to meet professional standards.
Senior officials, including Zahid Ali Abbasi, attended the meeting. The minister made it clear that only licensed candidates will qualify for teaching jobs.
As a result, Sindh is moving towards a more skilled and accountable education workforce.
