May Holidays Pakistan: Up to 15 Days Off Expected in 2026

May 2026 may bring an unusually long break for many people. The pattern of public holidays, weekends, and Eid ul Adha could create a holiday-heavy month. As a result, May holidays in Pakistan may total 14 to 15 days in some cases.

Early and Mid-Month Breaks

The month will begin with a clear holiday cluster. Labor Day falls on Friday, 1 May. When people add the weekend of 2 and 3 May, they will get a three-day break. In addition, another long weekend may appear later in the month. Authorities may announce a public holiday on Monday, 25 May. If that happens, it will connect with the weekend of 23 and 24 May. Therefore, workers could enjoy another three-day break.
These holiday clusters may benefit both public and private employees. Moreover, they may increase travel and family gatherings across the country.

Eid ul Adha Could Extend Holidays Further

Eid ul Adha will likely shape the longest break of the month. However, the final dates will depend on the Zilhaj moon sighting. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on 17 May to confirm the calendar.
If the moon appears on 17 May, Eid ul Adha may fall between 27 and 29 May. In this case, the Eid period may combine with the weekend. As a result, people could get up to five continuous days off.
However, if the moon does not appear, Ziqad will complete 30 days. In that situation, Eid will likely fall between 28 and 30 May. Consequently, Sunday, 31 May, may also extend the holiday stretch.
In conclusion, May holidays Pakistan may offer one of the longest break periods of the year. If additional holidays are approved, the total may increase further.
