Zanzibar Rural Healthcare Boosted by Chinese Medical Outreach
A Chinese medical team brought free healthcare services to Zanzibar’s Jambiani community on Saturday. The outreach aimed to improve Zanzibar rural healthcare for underserved residents. As a result, many people received timely treatment and health advice.
Free Medical Services for Residents
The 35th Chinese medical team set up multiple service areas at the outreach site. These included surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and otolaryngology. In addition, doctors used portable devices to deliver quick and effective care.
Patients received one-stop medical services without traveling far. For example, residents accessed diagnosis, treatment, and consultation in one visit. This approach made healthcare simple and convenient.
Traditional Chinese Medicine Introduced
The team introduced Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture for the first time in the community. This treatment helped relieve neck, shoulder, and lower back pain. It also eased joint discomfort for many patients. Moreover, residents showed strong interest in this method. Many people experienced relief after sessions. Therefore, acupuncture added a valuable option to local care services.
Health Education and Community Impact
Besides treatment, the team focused on health education. Medical staff explained malaria prevention and childhood immunization. They also shared vaccination safety tips and distributed brochures. As a result, residents gained better awareness of disease prevention. This knowledge supports healthier daily habits. In addition, it empowers families to take early action when needed.
Local officials praised the initiative. District medical officer Mgana Othman said it strengthens grassroots healthcare capacity. Furthermore, it supports public health protection. Team leader Bao Zengtao confirmed ongoing efforts to expand services. He emphasized reaching more underserved communities. Overall, this initiative continues to improve Zanzibar rural healthcare and community well-being.
