Loadshedding Ends Pakistan After LNG Arrival, Minister Confirms Relief

Good news for households and businesses across the country. Loadshedding ends Pakistan after a fresh LNG shipment arrived. Power Minister Awais Leghari confirmed this update on Friday. He explained that recent outages were temporary. The issue came from a gas shortage linked to global tensions.

Why Power Cuts Increased

During April, people faced long hours without electricity. For example, outages reached five hours on April 13 and 14. Soon after, they increased to around seven hours on April 15 and 16. However, the situation improved gradually. Daily outages dropped close to zero for a few days. Later, they reduced it to just two hours until April 29. The minister clarified an important point. The crisis did not happen due to system failure. Instead, fuel shortages caused the disruption.

LNG Shipment Brings Relief

Relief came with the arrival of a liquefied natural gas shipment. As a result, power generation improved quickly. The government also bought expensive gas from the spot market to manage demand. Earlier, Pakistan LNG Limited secured cargo bids. Prices ranged between $17.997 and $18.88 per unit. Deliveries were planned between late April and early May. Therefore, supply stability has now returned. This step helped restore electricity across the country.

Summer Outlook Looks Stable

The minister shared a reassuring update. He said no further loadshedding is planned. In addition, he expressed confidence in the transmission system. Authorities expect it to handle peak summer demand smoothly. This update brings hope for a stable season ahead. Consumers can now expect fewer disruptions. Meanwhile, officials continue monitoring fuel supply closely.
