Russian Drone Attacks Kill 11 Across Ukraine; Kyiv Strikes Oil Tankers
Officials in five regions reported fatalities overnight.
A Deadly Night Across Ukraine
Moscow continues to target Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles. At least 11 civilians were killed. Ukraine’s air force said Russia fired 269 drones. Ukrainian forces shot down or jammed 249 of them. However, 19 direct drone hits and one ballistic missile hit were confirmed in 15 locations. Falling debris from one drone also caused damage.
Casualties by Region
Three people died in the Kherson region. Two died in Odesa, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions. One person died in the Sumy region.
Ukraine Strikes Back at Russian Ports
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced new attacks. Ukraine struck three Russian oil tankers. The strikes also hit a cruise-missile carrier warship and a patrol boat. The attacks happened at two separate Russian ports. Zelensky said the tankers were part of Russia’s “shadow fleet”. That fleet helps Russia evade Western sanctions. There are no details yet on the damage to the ships.
