Pakistan Rolls Out Social Emotional Learning in Schools
Pakistan has introduced Social Emotional Learning in schools across the country. The initiative supports students’ emotional and social growth. It also strengthens their academic development in a balanced way.
The government launched this program with Right To Play. It will operate under the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and the Federal Directorate of Education. Officials signed the agreement in Islamabad during a formal ceremony.
Building Life Skills
Students will complete 25 structured lessons during the academic year. Each lesson focuses on essential life skills. For example, learners will build empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
They will also practice emotional regulation in real situations. As a result, students can manage stress and improve relationships. These skills will help them both inside and outside the classroom.
The program encourages inclusive learning environments. Therefore, schools can support students from diverse backgrounds. It also helps create safe spaces where every learner feels valued and respected.
Teacher Training and Play-Based Learning
Teachers will receive specialized training before the program begins. This training will prepare them to guide students effectively. In addition, it will help them create more supportive classrooms.
Educators will learn modern teaching strategies that focus on student well-being. As a result, lessons will become more engaging and meaningful. Officials believe trained teachers will play a key role in success.
Schools will also receive sports kits to support play-based learning. These activities will promote leadership, resilience, and teamwork. For instance, group games will build communication skills and confidence.
This initiative marks a shift toward holistic education. Schools will now focus on both academic success and personal growth. As a result, Pakistan aims to develop confident, empathetic, and responsible individuals ready for future challenges and opportunities.
