PAA Begins Sukkur Greenfield Airport Project
The Sukkur Greenfield Airport project officially started after the Pakistan Airports Authority held a kick-off meeting on Wednesday. The meeting launched the feasibility study, master planning, and detailed design services for the proposed airport in upper Sindh. Officials described the project as an important step toward improving aviation infrastructure and regional connectivity. In addition, business leaders and government representatives welcomed the initiative and expressed support for its economic benefits. Authorities believe the airport will improve travel facilities and strengthen commercial activity in nearby areas.
International Consultants Lead Planning Process
The Pakistan Airports Authority is carrying out the project with support from an international and local consultancy consortium. Germany-based M/s M2P Consulting GmbH will serve as the lead consultant for the airport project. Furthermore, the consultancy team also includes United Kingdom-based M/s Leit-
Werk Limited as a foreign expert.
Local firms M/s Indus Associated Consultants Lahore and M/s Cosmic Engineering Consultants Islamabad joined the consortium to support planning and engineering work. During the meeting, consultants presented the project’s work plan and shared details about the upcoming phases.
Officials said the consultants will conduct feasibility assessments, prepare master plans, and develop detailed designs for the proposed airport. As a result, authorities expect the project to support future aviation growth and improve transportation links in upper Sindh.
Officials Expect Economic Growth
Director General Pakistan Airports Authority Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed chaired the meeting. Deputy Director General Works and Development Sumair Saeed, Director Planning and Development Ghulam Abbas Sheikh, and other senior officials also attended the session.
Representatives from government departments, regional administration, aviation stakeholders, and the business community participated in discussions as well. According to officials, the Sukkur Greenfield Airport can improve trade, tourism, and investment opportunities in the region. Moreover, the project may create new business activity and strengthen economic growth in upper Sindh and surrounding areas.
Business leaders called the airport project a positive development for the region and expressed hope for better regional connectivity in the future.
