Genshin Impact Version Luna VII Launches on May 20 With New Story and Characters
HoYoverse has officially announced the next major update for Genshin Impact, with Version Luna VII “Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana” arriving on May 20. The update takes players back to Sumeru for a major Archon storyline centered around Nahida, who falls into a mysterious deep slumber while a dangerous new threat emerges across the region.
The latest story chapter introduces a mysterious new enemy that strongly resembles Il Dottore, despite previous events suggesting his defeat. Familiar characters including Collei, Thoth, Nicole, and other allies return as tensions rise throughout Sumeru. Players who complete the new Archon Quest during the event period can earn up to 560 Primogems along with Nicole’s Ascension Materials and access to a new Weekly Boss encounter.
New Playable Characters Join the Roster
Version Luna VII adds three new playable characters to Genshin Impact. Nicole becomes the first playable member of the Hexenzirkel and joins as a 5-star Pyro Catalyst user focused on team support and coordinated attacks. Her abilities grant attack bonuses, shields, and enhanced elemental reactions for allies.
Lohen also debuts as a new 5-star Cryo Polearm wielder who uses unique mechanics tied to “Joy” and “Will to Win” resources during combat. Meanwhile, Prune enters the roster as a 4-star Anemo Catalyst character who combines bell-based attacks and giant hammer strikes to trigger powerful Swirl reactions.
Events, Rewards, and Gameplay Improvements
The update also introduces several limited-time activities and quality-of-life improvements. A new event focused on Klee’s Little Hexenzirkel features mini-games alongside characters like Qiqi, Yaoyao, Sayu, and Prune, with players able to unlock exclusive rewards including the “Super Awesome Magic Key” weapon appearance.
Additional improvements include expanded editing tools for Miliastra Wonderland, enhanced quest autosave systems, and the new “Guiding Notes” feature that helps players revisit previous story events through in-game recaps.
