Karachi College Admissions Delayed as SECCAP Portal Remains Offline

Thousands of students in Karachi continue to face uncertainty due to the SECCAP admissions delay. The Sindh College Education Department has not started first-year intermediate admissions despite announcing June 1 as the official start date. Consequently, nearly 125,000 students remain unable to begin the enrollment process.
The department published advertisements in national newspapers on May 23. These notices informed students that online registration would start on June 1. Officials also set July 15 as the last date for submitting applications.

Thousands Wait for College Admissions

Each year, around 125,000 students apply for admission to government colleges in Karachi through the Centralized Admission Policy (CAP), commonly known as SECCAP. The system plays a key role in managing admissions across the city’s public colleges.
Students use the platform to apply for different academic streams. These include Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Computer Science, Commerce, Humanities, and Home Economics. Therefore, any disruption in the system affects a large number of applicants.
Many students expected to begin the admission process immediately after receiving their examination results. However, the unavailable portal has created confusion and concern among applicants and their families. As a result, many students now await further updates from education authorities.

Officials Promise Early Resolution

Director General Colleges Professor Zahid Rajper confirmed that technical issues caused the delay. He explained that the admission portal went offline because of system-related problems.
According to Rajper, the technical team continues to work on restoring the platform. He expressed confidence that the team would resolve the issue soon. Once the portal becomes operational, students will be able to submit their applications online.
The SECCAP admissions delay has raised concerns among students who want to secure seats in government colleges. Nevertheless, officials have assured applicants that they are taking steps to resolve the problem quickly.
Students and parents now hope the authorities restore the portal without further delays. A smooth admission process will help thousands of students begin the next stage of their academic journey on time.
