Punjab University Launches PU AI Chatbot to Simplify Student Admissions

PU AI Chatbot has made Punjab University the first public-sector university in Pakistan to introduce an artificial intelligence-powered assistant for students and admission seekers. The university launched the new service to provide quick and easy access to admission information. As a result, students can receive guidance without facing unnecessary delays.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Ali inaugurated the chatbot during a special ceremony. Chairman Admission Committee Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Dean Faculty of Computing and Information Technology Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar, deans, and administrative officers attended the event. The launch highlights the university’s commitment to innovation and student support.

University Focuses on Better Student Services

The PU AI Chatbot will answer admission-related questions and provide important university information. It offers instant responses and helps students find accurate details about admissions. Therefore, applicants can make informed decisions more quickly.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. M. Ali praised the development team for completing the project in a short period. He described the chatbot as an important achievement for the university. In addition, he said Punjab University places a strong focus on helping students and improving their overall experience.
The vice chancellor also directed officials to expand the chatbot service to other university departments. This move will allow more students to benefit from digital assistance in the future. Consequently, the university can improve communication and service delivery across multiple areas.

Multilingual Guidance for Admission Seekers

Dean Faculty of Computing and Information Technology Prof. Dr. Shahzad Sarwar briefed participants about the project. He said Punjab University developed the chatbot using its own resources. Moreover, the team completed the project within a limited timeframe.
The chatbot provides guidance in English, Urdu, and Roman Urdu. As a result, students from diverse backgrounds can easily access information in their preferred language. This feature improves accessibility and encourages greater engagement.
The launch of the PU AI Chatbot marks a significant step in the university’s digital transformation efforts. By using technology to support students, Punjab University aims to simplify admissions and enhance access to information for thousands of prospective applicants.
