Murree Expressway Fire Tragedy Claims Lives Near Khajut, Investigation Underway

Several people died on Wednesday after a Murree Expressway Fire broke out near Khajut on the Islamabad-Murree road. A Hiace van suddenly caught fire, turning a routine trip into a deadly tragedy. Authorities confirmed multiple fatalities at the scene.
The National Highways and Motorway Police reported the incident and immediately started an investigation. Officials said the fire erupted suddenly inside the vehicle. However, they have not yet confirmed the exact cause. Therefore, investigators will examine all possible technical faults and safety issues.

Sudden Blaze on Busy Route

The incident took place on a key highway connecting Islamabad and Murree. This route has faced heavy traffic in recent weeks due to road reconstruction and diversions. As a result, emergency teams struggled to reach the site quickly.
Rescue teams from the motorway police and district administration arrived soon after receiving the alert. They worked to control the situation and assist survivors. In addition, they secured the area to prevent further danger to other vehicles passing through the route.
Officials have not yet shared the exact number of victims. They also have not released the identities of those affected. Therefore, families are still waiting for official confirmation and updates about their loved ones.

Investigation and Traffic Disruption

Authorities have launched a detailed inquiry into the cause of the fire. They will review mechanical condition, possible fuel issues, and maintenance records. For example, investigators may also examine eyewitness accounts to understand the sequence of events.
Meanwhile, traffic flow on the expressway remained affected after the incident. Officials managed vehicles carefully to reduce further disruption. However, delays continued due to ongoing construction work and heavy congestion in the area.
The situation remains under investigation, and officials expect more details soon. Rescue teams continue their efforts while authorities assess the full scale of the tragedy.
