Sindh Budget 2026–27 Proposes Salary Hike and Pension Increase for Employees

The Sindh government has proposed a Sindh Salary Hike in the upcoming budget for 2026–27. The plan aims to provide financial relief to thousands of government employees across the province. According to reports, the proposal includes a 15 to 20 percent increase in salaries and pensions.
Officials also suggested a 20 percent raise for employees from Grade 1 to Grade 16. In addition, they proposed a revision of pay scales for employees up to Grade 21. However, the Sindh cabinet will take the final decision after reviewing the budget proposals.

Government Plans Relief for Employees

The government designed the salary increase to help employees cope with rising inflation. Therefore, the proposed adjustments aim to improve purchasing power and financial stability for public sector workers.
Authorities also plan to review the overall pay structure. For example, they want to better align basic pay and allowances. As a result, employees may see long-term improvements in their compensation system.
Meanwhile, government employees across the country continued to demand stronger financial relief. The All Government Employees Grand Alliance (AGEGA) staged a symbolic protest outside the Ministry of Finance in Islamabad. They urged the government to address long-standing concerns about pay and allowances.
Protesters demanded a 50 percent salary increase for employees earning less than Rs50,000 per month. In addition, they called for the full implementation of the agreement signed on March 10, 2025.

Employees Push for Broader Reforms

Employees also demanded the merger of all ad hoc allowances into basic pay. They called for a revised pay scale for 2026 and a 100 percent increase in ad hoc relief allowances. Moreover, they demanded higher conveyance, medical, and house rent allowances.
Other demands included a 30 percent disparity reduction allowance to address wage gaps among different employee groups. Teachers and researchers also called for tax relief and refunds on deducted amounts.
Furthermore, employees demanded the regularization of contract workers and restoration of jobs for families of deceased employees. They also urged the government to set the minimum monthly wage at Rs50,000.
The Sindh Salary Hike proposal now awaits cabinet approval. Until then, discussions on pay reforms and employee relief are expected to continue across the province.
