Peak-Inspired Game, Lazy River Lets You Survive A Zombie Waterpark
Co-op games continue to dominate Steam, and a new title could become the next big hit among groups of friends. Inspired by the mountain-climbing success Peak, Lazy River takes a different approach to cooperative survival. Instead of scaling dangerous heights, players must travel through a zombie-infested waterpark while building, defending, and upgrading a floating raft.
The upcoming title recently appeared at Summer Game Fest, where players got an early look at its unique gameplay concept. Although the game shares some similarities with other cooperative survival experiences, it introduces enough original ideas to stand out from the crowd.
Lazy River Turns A Waterpark Into A Survival Challenge
At first glance, Lazy River looks like a lighthearted multiplayer adventure. However, danger quickly appears once players begin their journey through the abandoned waterpark. According to the game’s premise, a mysterious virus has infected the park and transformed visitors into zombies. Fortunately, the infected cannot enter the water. Therefore, players must use the lazy river as their main route to safety.
To begin, teams construct a raft using inflatable tubes and floating equipment. After that, they gather supplies and prepare for the long trip downstream. As players travel through the park, they encounter food, resources, and useful equipment. However, they must also defend themselves from zombies attempting to board the raft. Because of this, teamwork becomes essential for survival.
Water Guns And Pool Noodles Drive The Action
Unlike traditional zombie games that rely on firearms and explosives, Lazy River embraces a much more playful style. Players can use water guns to push back approaching enemies. Meanwhile, pool noodles offer a surprisingly effective way to knock zombies into the river. Since the infected cannot survive in the water, this tactic provides a quick solution during intense encounters.
The game also includes unexpected hazards. For example, drones sometimes fly above the waterpark. If players fail to destroy them, they can activate dangerous security systems that create additional challenges. As a result, teams must constantly communicate and adapt to changing situations.
A Strong Contender For Steam’s Next Co-Op Hit
One of the most entertaining features shown during the demo involved movement. Players can create slippery surfaces with water guns or water balloons. Then, they can perform a dolphin dive and slide across the ground at high speed.
This mechanic adds both humor and mobility to the experience. Furthermore, it creates plenty of opportunities for memorable multiplayer moments. Much like Peak, the game supports different playstyles. Some groups may focus on reaching the end of the river. Others may simply enjoy spending time together while exploring and chatting.
Although Lazy River does not have a release date yet, the game is expected to enter Steam Early Access in the near future. Based on early impressions, it could become one of the most entertaining co-op releases for players looking for a fresh multiplayer experience.
