Dead By Daylight Reveals Major Plans For Its Next Decade

Dead By Daylight Reveals Major Plans For Its Next Decade

Behaviour Interactive celebrated a major milestone during the recent Dead by Daylight anniversary event. The studio hosted both an in-person gathering in Montreal and a livestream presentation for fans around the world. During the event, developers reflected on the game’s first ten years while also revealing ambitious plans for the future.

Thousands of fans attended the celebration. Many arrived dressed as their favorite killers and survivors. Throughout the day, attendees participated in panels, meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, art showcases, and developer discussions. However, the biggest announcements focused on what comes next for the popular horror multiplayer title.

Dead By Daylight Announces New Chapters And Collaborations

The development team revealed several upcoming chapters that will expand the game’s roster of killers and survivors. First, horror icon Jason Voorhees finally enters The Fog after years of fan requests. The new chapter launches on June 16 and brings one of horror’s most recognizable villains into the game.

Shortly afterward, players will receive another chapter focused on an original survivor. Shane Wiigwaas becomes the game’s first Indigenous Survivor when The Life Road releases on June 25. In addition, Behaviour Interactive confirmed that Art the Clown from the Terrifier franchise will join the game later this year. The Dead by Daylight: Terrifier chapter is currently scheduled to launch in November.

The studio also revealed Chorus of Sin, a chapter created through direct collaboration with the community. Meanwhile, early plans for 2027 include content based on The Casting of Frank Stone, the narrative horror game set within the Dead by Daylight universe.

Major Gameplay And Visual Improvements Are Coming

Beyond new content, developers outlined significant improvements planned for future updates. A large visual overhaul is currently targeted for 2027. According to the team, character models will receive updated animations and improved facial expressions. As a result, survivors and killers should appear more realistic during gameplay.

Maps will also receive major upgrades. New lighting systems, enhanced textures, improved weather effects, and stronger Entity-related visuals are all in development. For the first time, dynamic weather will appear in the game. Players can expect light rain, heavy storms, and other environmental effects during matches. Furthermore, the studio plans to add new voice lines for original characters over time.

Modding, New Modes, And Movie Updates Expand The Future

Behaviour Interactive also discussed several long-term projects. New game modes are currently in development, including a 1v1 mode and a dedicated zombie mode. While details remain limited, both additions could significantly change how players experience the game.

Perhaps the most surprising announcement involved modding support. The studio confirmed plans to introduce sandboxed modding tools next year. Consequently, players will gain the ability to create custom maps, game modes, and other community-driven content.

The company also shared an update on the upcoming film adaptation. Producers confirmed that the screenplay is complete and introduced Thordur Palsson as the movie’s director. Finally, several new cosmetic collections were revealed. Upcoming collaborations include Scooby-Doo, Diablo IV, Silent Hill, The Walking Dead, Iron Maiden, and Ice Nine Kills.

Ten years after its launch, Dead by Daylight continues to grow at an impressive pace. With new chapters, visual upgrades, modding support, movie developments, and major collaborations on the horizon, the game’s future appears stronger than ever.
