Guns of Eschaton Announced as New Soulslike FPS Inspired by Viktor Antonov

Publisher 4Divinity and developer Eschatology Entertainment have officially announced Guns of Eschaton, a brand-new Soulslike first-person shooter coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game stands out as the final original universe envisioned by the late Viktor Antonov, the legendary art director behind iconic titles such as Half-Life 2, Dishonored, Prey, Fallout 4, and Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Although a release date has not yet been confirmed, the announcement has already generated significant attention thanks to its unique blend of challenging Soulslike gameplay, mystical Western themes, and Antonov’s unmistakable artistic vision.

Guns of Eschaton Brings Soulslike Combat to the Wild West

Set in an apocalyptic version of the American Old South, Guns of Eschaton combines methodical Soulslike combat with first-person shooting mechanics. Players take on the role of a lone gunslinger attempting to survive a world consumed by supernatural horrors, corrupted legends, and occult forces known as “The Burning.” Unlike traditional shooters that reward constant action, every encounter in Guns of Eschaton requires careful planning. Ammunition is limited, every firearm behaves differently, and enemies possess unique weaknesses that players must study before engaging in combat.

The game encourages tactical gameplay through timed parries, evasive dashes, mystical abilities, custom ammunition, talismans, armor upgrades, and multiple character progression paths. Rather than relying on quick reflexes alone, success depends on mastering each weapon and adapting strategies for every enemy encountered.

Co-op Gameplay, Deep Customisation, and a Dark Fantasy World

Players will have access to more than 20 authentic 19th-century firearms, each featuring distinct handling characteristics and strengths. Some weapons can even become dangerous to inexperienced users, reinforcing the game’s emphasis on precision and mastery. Beyond its weapon system, Guns of Eschaton offers extensive build customization through passive skills, active abilities, sacramental powers, consumables, and unique bullet types. Players can shape their own combat style while learning techniques inspired by legendary Wild West figures.

The game supports both full solo progression and cooperative multiplayer, allowing friends to experience the entire campaign together. Competitive PvP elements will also be available, enabling players to invade or disrupt the journeys of others travelling across the haunted frontier. Exploration plays an equally important role. Players will travel through ruined settlements, abandoned towns, impossible machines, myth-inspired factions, and supernatural landscapes where history and folklore collide. A hand-drawn Cherokee Codex will help uncover enemy weaknesses, hidden lore, and survival strategies, making knowledge just as valuable as firepower.

Studio head Fuad Kuliev described the project as a tribute to Viktor Antonov’s extraordinary imagination, explaining that the team remained committed to bringing his final creative vision to life. With its distinctive setting, challenging gameplay, and rich world-building, Guns of Eschaton is already shaping up to be one of the most unique Soulslike releases currently in development.
