Mini Mazda Protest Announced Against Higher Transfer Fee and Taxes

The Mini Mazda protest will take place on Monday after transporters rejected a sharp increase in vehicle-related charges. The Pakistan Mini Mazda Association announced the demonstration to oppose higher transfer fees, token tax, and toll tax. Members will gather at the Babu Sabu Interchange in Lahore to demand immediate relief. They believe the increased charges will place an unfair financial burden on transport operators and affect their businesses.

Transporters Oppose Sharp Rise in Taxes and Fees

The Pakistan Mini Mazda Association said the government has significantly increased several vehicle-related charges. According to the association, the transfer fee has jumped from Rs4,000 to Rs27,000. Similarly, the token tax has increased from Rs2,000 to Rs6,000. The toll tax has also risen from Rs350 to Rs650.
Association members argued that these increases will raise the operating costs of commercial vehicles. As a result, many transporters may struggle to continue their services. They also warned that higher expenses could eventually affect passengers and businesses that depend on affordable transport.
The association decided to organize a peaceful demonstration to highlight these concerns. Furthermore, members hope the protest will encourage the government to review its decision and engage in meaningful discussions with transport representatives.

Association Warns of Wider Campaign

Pakistan Mini Mazda Association President Tanveer Ahmad Jutt said the organization would announce its next strategy during the protest. He explained that transporters remain united and are prepared to continue their campaign if authorities fail to address their demands.
Jutt warned that the association would expand the Mini Mazda protest across other areas if the government refused to reconsider the higher charges. However, he expressed hope that officials would resolve the issue through dialogue instead of prolonged demonstrations.
The association believes reasonable taxes and fees are essential for the transport sector to operate efficiently. It also urged the government to consider the financial challenges faced by transporters before implementing additional charges. Overall, the protest reflects growing concern within the transport community over rising operational costs and their impact on businesses, drivers, and the public.
