Shehbaz Sharif Pays Tribute to Ayatollah Khamenei During Tehran Visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during his Shehbaz Iran visit to Tehran. He praised the late leader’s courage, wisdom, and lifelong service to Iran. Moreover, the prime minister expressed Pakistan’s condolences and solidarity with the Iranian people following Ayatollah Khamenei’s death. He said millions of Muslims around the world would remember the late leader as a respected scholar and statesman.
PM Expresses Solidarity With Iran
Speaking to Iranian media, Shehbaz Sharif said Ayatollah Khamenei had served his country with sincerity and unwavering commitment. He described the late leader as a symbol of patience, vision, and steadfast leadership. According to the prime minister, people across the Muslim world would continue to remember his contributions.
Shehbaz said the Pakistani delegation had travelled to Tehran to convey heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan. In addition, he extended sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives. He said many Iranian citizens had also died as a result of what he described as “brutal aggression.”
The prime minister also reaffirmed the close relationship between Pakistan and Iran. He described both countries as brotherly Muslim nations with deep historical and cultural ties. “Our hearts beat together, and we will always stand shoulder to shoulder,” he said while expressing support for Iran.
Pakistani Delegation Attends Funeral
Earlier, Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral of Ayatollah Khamenei at the invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other senior officials.
During the Shehbaz Iran visit, the prime minister also met Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei and President Pezeshkian. He conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran’s leadership and people and offered prayers for the departed leader.
Meanwhile, a separate parliamentary delegation led by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also attended the funeral. The delegation included members of parliament, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, and other senior officials, reflecting Pakistan’s continued diplomatic support for Iran.
