Rancho La Puerta Named #1 International Wellness Retreat by Travel + Leisure
Rancho La Puerta has earned the top International Wellness Retreat ranking. Travel + Leisure readers voted the resort number one. The award comes from the 2026 World’s Best Awards survey. The Ranch has won this honor repeatedly over the years. It earned top spots in 2013, 2014, and from 2020 to 2024.
The Resort Experience
The resort sits on 4,000 private acres in Tecate, Mexico. It lies just three miles from the US-Mexico border. The property offers gardens, mountains, and meadows for exploration. Guests enjoy over 40 miles of hiking trails.
The fitness programme includes yoga, Pilates, and strength training. Water aerobics and Tai Chi classes are also available. Guided hikes take guests through the beautiful natural surroundings. The resort serves nourishing, pescatarian-style cuisine. Ingredients come from the Tres Estrellas Organic Farm.
Legacy and Recognition
The ranch was founded in 1940 by Deborah and Edmond Szekely. The couple pioneered the modern wellness resort movement. The resort focuses on mind, body, and nature harmony. Spa treatments and therapies are offered in three health centers.
General Manager Eliezer Quiñones expressed gratitude for the award. He dedicated it to the staff and supportive guests. He called the recognition a testament to the Szekely family’s legacy.
