Pakistan Navy Continues Search for Missing Cargo Plane Crew

Pakistan Navy Continues Search for Missing Cargo Plane Crew

The cargo plane crash search entered another day as the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) continued rescue and recovery efforts in the Arabian Sea near Ormara.
Teams are searching for the bodies of five crew members who went missing after a private cargo aircraft crashed earlier this week. Divers from the Pakistan Navy are conducting underwater operations while other teams continue surface searches. In addition, authorities have expanded the search area to improve the chances of locating the missing crew. Officials remain hopeful that the ongoing operation will recover more evidence from the crash site.

Search Area Expanded Near Ormara

The Pakistan Navy has increased the search zone by 15 to 20 nautical miles around the suspected crash site. Authorities have also contacted commercial ships and local fishermen operating in the area. They have asked them to report any signs of debris or missing crew members.
As a result, more vessels are now supporting the operation. On Wednesday, search teams located the wreckage of the missing Boeing 737-400 freighter after an intensive operation lasting more than 12 hours. The debris was found about 53 nautical miles south of Ormara. However, officials said the search for the five missing crew members continues.

Investigation Continues into the Crash

The 27-year-old Boeing 737-400 freighter, operated by K2 Airways, was flying from Sharjah to Karachi on Tuesday night when the accident occurred. According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the crew reported a serious navigation system malfunction at 9:18 pm. Air traffic controllers immediately tried to guide the aircraft to safety.
However, flight tracking data showed the aircraft experienced dramatic altitude changes during its final minutes. It first lost about 5,000 feet, then climbed rapidly before entering an uncontrolled descent.
The last recorded position showed the aircraft at only 1,100 feet above sea level before communication ended. Investigators will examine the recovered wreckage and other evidence to determine the exact cause of the cargo plane crash. Meanwhile, rescue teams continue their efforts to locate the missing crew members and provide answers to their families.
