GIKI Graduate Assistantships Offer Monthly Stipends Up to Rs158,000

The GIKI graduate assistantships will provide financial support to students pursuing advanced degrees. The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology (GIKI) has introduced a new assistantship scheme for MS and PhD students.
The programme aims to support talented researchers through monthly stipends and academic benefits. In addition, selected students will receive free tuition and free hostel accommodation. GIKI believes the initiative will encourage high-quality research and attract outstanding students from across Pakistan.

Monthly Stipends and Academic Benefits

Under the new scheme, PhD scholars can receive a monthly stipend of Rs158,000. Meanwhile, MS students can receive Rs88,000 per month. GIKI will also waive tuition fees for selected candidates. Furthermore, the institute will provide free hostel accommodation to eligible students.
These benefits will reduce financial pressure and allow students to focus on research and academic work. As a result, scholars can dedicate more time to innovation, projects and advanced studies. The assistantships cover all MS and PhD programmes offered by the institute. Therefore, students from a wide range of engineering and technology disciplines can benefit from the initiative.

Eligible Programmes and Application Process

The assistantships are available in several graduate programmes. These include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Engineering Management, and Nanotechnology and Materials Engineering. GIKI has announced that it will automatically consider all submitted and in-progress applications for the new assistantship scheme. Therefore, eligible applicants do not need to submit a separate request.
The application deadline is July 31, 2026. The institute encourages interested students to complete their applications before the closing date. Through these assistantships, GIKI aims to strengthen graduate research, support academic excellence and develop highly skilled professionals for Pakistan’s engineering and technology sectors. The initiative also reflects the institute’s commitment to creating better opportunities for future researchers and innovators.
