Karachi University Clash: Sindh Forms Inquiry Committee to Investigate Incident
The Karachi University clash has prompted the Sindh government to form a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the incident. Sindh Universities Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahu announced the committee following a clash between two student groups at the University of Karachi. The committee will examine all aspects of the incident and submit its findings within 15 days. The government says it aims to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the investigation.
Five-Member Committee to Conduct Inquiry
According to the Sindh Universities and Boards Department, the five-member committee will be led by Dr Hussain Mehdi, Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University Lyari. Other members include Dr Ghazanfar, Dr Sarfaraz Maitlo, Professor Dr Intikhab Ulfat and Professor Dr Naima Saeed.
Minister Ismail Rahu directed the committee to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation. He instructed members to identify the individuals and groups responsible for the violence. In addition, the committee will examine whether any administrative or security lapses contributed to the incident. It will also recommend legal action against those found responsible.
Government Seeks Safe Campus Environment
The Sindh government has reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and security in educational institutions. Ismail Rahu said universities must provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment. Therefore, the government will not tolerate violence, unrest or lawlessness on campuses.
The minister instructed the inquiry committee to submit its report, along with recommendations, to the Sindh Universities and Boards Department within 15 days. Meanwhile, the University of Karachi and all relevant institutions have been directed to provide full cooperation during the investigation.
The findings of the committee are expected to help authorities determine responsibility and improve campus security measures. As a result, the government hopes to prevent similar incidents in the future and strengthen discipline across public universities.
