Operation Shaban: Security Forces Kill 88 Terrorists in Balochistan Since July 5
Security forces have killed 88 terrorists during Operation Shaban and related intelligence-based operations in Balochistan since July 5, according to security sources. State-run Pakistan Television reported that forces eliminated nine more terrorists during the latest operation. As a result, the overall number of terrorists killed has reached 88. Authorities said the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and police continue coordinated air and ground operations to dismantle terrorist hideouts across the province.
Security Forces Continue Operation Shaban
According to security sources, the latest action raised the number of terrorists killed under Operation Shaban to 52. Meanwhile, intelligence-based operations conducted since July 5 increased the overall figure to 88. Officials stated that security forces will continue the operation until they eliminate all terrorist threats in the area.
The joint operation began on July 5 in Quetta district’s Shaban area. Security forces launched the campaign after terrorists attacked a police post at the Mangi Dam pumping station. During the assault, terrorists martyred nine police personnel, including two station house officers. They also abducted 18 policemen at gunpoint before killing them. Later, authorities recovered their bodies from the Zarghoon Gar mountainous area.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and police for eliminating more terrorists. Furthermore, he commended their courage and commitment to restoring peace in Balochistan. He also said security forces had frustrated the plans of terrorist groups through coordinated operations.
Government Announces Support for Martyrs’ Families
Balochistan Chief Minister’s aide on Information and Political Affairs, Shahid Rind, announced financial assistance for the families of the fallen police personnel. The provincial government approved Rs11.1 million in compensation for the affected families. In addition, authorities completed all financial and administrative procedures on a fast-track basis.
Rind also confirmed that the government will continue supporting the families of the martyrs. It will provide welfare assistance and cover the educational expenses of their children. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan’s civil and military leadership had jointly decided to eliminate terrorism. He made the remarks during the Provincial Apex Committee meeting in Quetta, attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Since July 5, terrorist attacks and subsequent security operations have claimed the lives of 42 people, including four civilians, 27 police personnel, and 11 security officials. Authorities say Operation Shaban will continue until peace and stability return to Balochistan.
