The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken strict action by terminating the licenses of multiple fiber link service providers following a surge in consumer complaints and repeated regulatory violations.
According to PTA officials, these operators were found guilty of failing to maintain service quality standards, including frequent connectivity disruptions, lack of technical support, and issues related to billing transparency. The regulator stated that the companies had been issued multiple notices and were given ample time to address shortcomings, but their persistent failure to comply with the required guidelines left the authority with no choice but to cancel their licenses.
PTA reiterated its commitment to ensuring uninterrupted and reliable internet services for users across Pakistan. It further warned that strict measures will continue against operators failing to meet performance benchmarks or violating consumer protection rules.
Industry experts believe this move could encourage better compliance among service providers and improve overall service quality. However, they also stressed the need for increased investment in fiber infrastructure to meet the growing demand for high-speed internet in the country.
