Sindh Facial Attendance System Introduced in Government Schools
Sindh has launched the Sindh facial attendance system in government schools to improve transparency and staff monitoring. The School Education Department has started the pilot phase of the digital attendance project in six districts. The new system will cover teachers and non-teaching staff through facial recognition technology.
The pilot project has started in Karachi East, Hyderabad, Naushahro Feroze, Jacobabad, Ghotki and Umerkot. Around 49,565 teaching and non-teaching employees will use the system. Officials say the move will make attendance records more accurate and efficient.
Digital attendance to improve monitoring
Teachers can mark attendance through a mobile application. They can even use another person’s phone if needed. In addition, the app will work without an internet connection.
The system will save attendance data offline and upload it automatically once internet service returns. Teachers must record both arrival and departure times. As a result, education officials will receive complete attendance data.
The application also offers more features. For example, teachers can view attendance records, download monthly reports and submit leave requests online. Therefore, the process will become faster and more convenient.
Training completed before launch
The School Education Department completed training before introducing the project. Administrative officers, school heads and teachers learned how to use the application. This preparation will help ensure smooth implementation.
Officials believe the technology will strengthen accountability in schools. Moreover, digital records can support better planning and management. If the pilot succeeds, the system may expand to more districts in the future. The initiative marks an important step towards modernising education management in Sindh. It also reflects the growing role of technology in improving public services across Pakistan.
