Balochistan Relaxes Teacher Transfer Rules Within Districts

The Balochistan government has eased teacher transfer rules within districts. The School Education Department issued a notification outlining the revised policy.Under the new policy, teaching staff can move within their current district. However, the ban on inter-district transfers remains for Secondary School Teachers (SSTs) and headteachers. The department has also allowed surplus teachers in Quetta to return to their native districts. However, they cannot move from Quetta to another district through this policy.

New rules for teacher postings

Teachers from other districts also cannot transfer to Quetta. The department has maintained this restriction to manage staffing levels in the provincial capital.Teachers awaiting new postings must submit applications to their District Education Officer (DEO). They must complete this process within one month of the notification.

In addition, officials must make every transfer against an approved vacant post. This requirement aims to prevent unnecessary postings and staffing imbalances. The revised policy gives district authorities more flexibility. At the same time, it keeps restrictions on important inter-district positions.

Department warns against policy violations

The School Education Department has warned officials and individuals against violating the new rules. Authorities may take action against anyone who ignores the approved transfer procedure. The policy focuses on better management of teaching staff within districts. It also seeks to address the needs of teachers waiting for postings.

Meanwhile, the government has retained the inter-district transfer ban for SSTs and headteachers. Therefore, these positions will continue under tighter controls. The changes provide greater flexibility for teachers seeking transfers within their districts. They also offer a route for surplus Quetta teachers to return to their native districts. However, the department has clearly limited movement between districts. The revised rules will remain subject to available and approved vacancies.
