Adjournment Motion: Khuhro Backs Debate on New Provinces

Adjournment Motion: Khuhro Backs Debate on New Provinces

PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro says the Sindh Assembly will decide on new province demands. The adjournment motion debate will allow lawmakers to present their views before a final decision.Khuhro said members will debate the issue before voting on a resolution. Therefore, the majority view of the House will guide the outcome. He also said the debate will record the positions of those seeking territorial changes.

PPP Rejects Division of Sindh

Khuhro said PPP members from Kashmore to Karachi will oppose new provinces. They will present their position during the debate on the constitutional forum. He rejected criticism over allowing supporters of new provinces to speak. According to him, such members could express their views even without an adjournment motion.

The PPP leader recalled that the House had already approved five resolutions against new provinces. However, calls for fresh resolutions have continued across the province. As a result, Khuhro said people now want another resolution from lawmakers. The House will consider the issue after members complete their debate. He also questioned how authorities would respond if calls for a referendum gained wider support. Khuhro argued that lawmakers should settle the matter through a constitutional vote.

Khuhro Defends Sindh’s Unity

Khuhro said the PPP has opposed creating new provinces or administrative units in Sindh. He added that his party does not consider the demand representative of Sindh’s people. Moreover, he said supporters already voice their views through rallies, meetings and media events. Therefore, he sees no reason to deny them speaking time in the House.

Khuhro stressed that political differences remain acceptable. However, he described Sindh’s unity and water rights as key matters. He said the PPP would continue defending the province through constitutional forums. He also urged political groups to avoid weakening Sindh’s collective strength. Finally, Khuhro rejected claims that defending Sindh’s unity amounts to treason. He asked political stakeholders to respect differing views and keep debate within democratic institutions.
