The International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS)—a prominent global body comprising around 500 experts in genocide studies—has passed a resolution declaring that Israel’s actions in Gaza meet the legal definition of genocide according to Article II of the 1948 UN Genocide Convention. The resolution was supported by 86% of voting members.The resolution cites systematic and widespread acts, including:Mass civilian killings.Starvation tactics and denial of humanitarian aid.Forced displacement of populations.Destruction of civilian infrastructure.These actions are described as meeting the threshold for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.
