LARKANA, Sept 01 (APP): In response to the emergency flood situation in Sindh, the Education Department Larkana has declared more than one thousand government boys’ and girls’ primary schools across all four talukas of the district as relief camps to shelter displaced families. The decision aims to relocate flood victims from katcha to safer pacca areas. According to officials, the district administration has begun shifting affected people to these schools, where they will be provided with essential facilities including food. District Education Officer (Primary), Anis-ur-Rehman Jalbani, sent details of the declared schools to Taluka Education Officers of Larkana, Ratodero, Bakrani, and Dokri.Out of the total, 307 schools have been designated in Larkana taluka, 308 in Ratodero, 214 in Bakrani, 146 in Dokri, along with over 32 katcha schools across the district. Together, these 3,290 classrooms have the capacity to accommodate more than 32,900 flood victims.The declared schools include over 70 in Larkana city as well as schools from various Union Councils in all four talukas. Schools from Ratodero Municipal Committee, New Dero Municipal Committee, and Town Committee Khair Muhammad Arija have also been included. The communicated letter stated that, on the Deputy Commissioner’s instructions, schools located in katcha areas already surrounded by floodwater should be vacated or closed. Headmasters were directed to safeguard school records, furniture, solar systems, and other valuable equipment. Staff members, including headmasters and watchmen, have been instructed to remain alert and coordinate with Assistant Commissioners for the safety of both schools and flood victims.
