KARACHI: The Pakistani government has once again reduced the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) while keeping petrol rates unchanged for the next two weeks. According to a notification issued Sunday by the Finance Division, the decision was made based on recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and other relevant bodies.
This marks the second consecutive fortnight where HSD prices have been cut. On August 15, the price of HSD was reduced by Rs12.84 per liter. In the latest revision, HSD now costs Rs269.99 per liter—down by Rs3. Meanwhile, petrol remains at Rs264.61 per liter.
Other price adjustments include a Rs2.40 per liter cut in light diesel oil, now priced at Rs159.76, and a Rs1.46 reduction in superior kerosene oil, which now costs Rs178.81 per liter.
“The government has revised petroleum product prices for the fortnight starting tomorrow, in line with the recommendations of OGRA and the ministries concerned,” said the Finance Division.
Fuel prices in Pakistan are reviewed biweekly, influenced by global oil markets, currency rates, and domestic taxes. While petrol is mainly used by private transport, diesel powers freight and heavy transport across the country.
