Shan Masood: “Taking 20 Wickets Key to Beating South Africa in Test Series”

Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood is confident that bowlers will play the main role in the upcoming Pakistan vs South Africa Test series. He believes taking 20 wickets is more important than scoring big runs.
“We must focus on taking 20 wickets,” Shan said confidently. “Runs are valuable, but bowlers win Test matches. If we can dismiss the opposition twice, we stay in control.”

Focus on Bowling and Balance

The series marks Pakistan’s return to red-ball cricket after a long break. The team has faced pressure after mixed results. However, Shan remains hopeful. “Our pace attack has improved,” he shared. “Spinners are adjusting well to different conditions. Therefore, I trust our bowling unit completely.”
Shan also spoke about maintaining balance between batting and bowling. “We can’t depend on one department,” he said. “Batsmen must set up the game with solid runs. Meanwhile, bowlers should create pressure and take wickets.”

Experience and Teamwork

The captain praised senior players for mentoring the younger squad members. “Experience counts in Test cricket,” Shan explained. “Players like Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali bring confidence and energy. As a result, the whole team grows stronger.”
Pakistan will face South Africa in a two-match Test series starting next week. Both teams aim to climb higher in the World Test Championship. Shan believes teamwork and discipline will be the deciding factors.
“In Test cricket, patience and planning win games,” he said. “If we stay consistent, good results will follow.”
Fans are eager to see Pakistan make a bold statement under Shan’s leadership.
