Balochistan Reactivates 3,144 Schools, Empowering 81,000 Children
Balochistan has reached a major milestone in education reform. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, the province has reactivated 3,144 of 3,862 non-functional schools. This move has opened classroom doors for over 81,000 children across Balochistan.
A Historic Achievement
The Education Department called this progress unprecedented. It is the largest school restoration campaign in the province’s history. Minister Raheela Durrani stated that Balochistan’s future depends on education. “We are fully committed to ensuring that no child remains deprived of learning,” she said.
Her leadership has transformed the Education Department, expanding access to quality education in even the most remote areas.
Teachers and Enrollment Growth
Teacher recruitment played a vital role in this achievement. In the first phase, 1,866 teachers were appointed under the SBK program. Around 837 teachers joined on contract in the second phase, and 86 more in the third.
In addition, 290 schools became functional through the reallocation of existing staff. Districts like Pishin, Khuzdar, and Awaran saw thousands of new enrollments, while Zhob and Naseerabad recorded major improvements after years of educational neglect.
Building a Sustainable Future
Officials say this initiative lays the foundation for lasting reform. The next phase will focus on school sustainability, basic facilities, and permanent teacher availability.
This province-wide effort is being celebrated as a turning point for Balochistan—a bold step toward a more educated, empowered, and equitable society.
