Against All Odds: Gaza Students Triumph in 2026 Exams Amid War and Destruction
In an extraordinary display of resilience, Gaza’s Ministry of Education announced the 2026 secondary school exam results. The news arrived as the region faces one of its hardest humanitarian and educational crises in decades.
Amid destruction and displacement, students turned suffering into strength. Between tents and shattered buildings, they studied under the sound of aircraft and shelling, proving that learning in Gaza is not a privilege — it’s an act of resistance.
Despite the loss of more than 13,500 students, 830 teachers, and 193 academics, education continued. Over 670 schools and 165 universities were destroyed, yet tens of thousands completed their exams.
Knowledge Over War
From 6 to 15 September, students took exams electronically despite power cuts and shortages of devices. Many joined lessons through mobile phones in shelters or tents, determined to continue their education.
At a press conference, top achievers in science, literature, business, and other fields were celebrated. Tears and smiles filled the room as ministry officials called the results “a victory of knowledge over war.”
The ministry’s message was clear: awareness cannot be bombed, and willpower cannot be destroyed.
Even as famine and collapse threaten Gaza, students continue to learn. Their courage sends a global message — knowledge survives even when everything else falls apart.
From rubble came joy. From hunger rose hope. Gaza’s students have shown that education is not just learning — it’s the heartbeat of dignity, survival, and nationhood.
