In a significant stride toward internationalizing its academic landscape, the Rector of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Alhaji (Comrade) Kehinde Adeyemi Alabi, alongside the Bursar, Mr. Sunday Ademola Afolabi, and other top management officials, recently embarked on a strategic visit to Durban, South Africa. The team engaged in high-level discussions with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, hosted by its Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Prof. Koorbanally, to explore opportunities for academic collaboration.
The partnership focuses on research development, staff and student exchange programmes, and joint training initiatives designed to enhance academic excellence and global exposure. With this collaboration, staff and students of the Polytechnic will benefit from international experiences, advanced training in modern teaching and research methodologies, and access to global resources.
One of the major outcomes of the discussions is the agreement to pursue joint research ventures aimed at solving real-life challenges, with an emphasis on knowledge that contributes both locally and globally. Such initiatives are expected to boost the Polytechnic’s competitiveness, foster innovation, and position it as a key player in addressing socio-economic issues in Nigeria and Africa at large.
Stakeholders have hailed the development as a visionary step by the Alabi-led management, describing it as a bold move to uplift the institution’s profile and ensure long-term academic growth. With this alliance, Osun State Polytechnic is set to transform into a citadel of excellence with international standards, aligning education with global best practices.
